15 February 2008
As mentioned in our latest news (7 February) Naviair will today, Friday 15 February 2008, install a new service-patch to the air traffic management system. Among other things, the intention with the upgrade is to correct problems with the data exchange with other countries, which is not as automated as we would like it to be, and to improve the functionality in some of the planning tools used by the air traffic controllers.
After the upgrade, we will use a couple of days to evaluate how the improvement is experienced by the air traffic controllers in order to estimate the possibility for changes in the capacity limit.
The capacity is still a little lower than originally planned for this stage of the running-in period. In the period to come, the general capacity limit will still be 70 % - and 75 % for the western sectors. As earlier mentioned, we are at this point facing the risk of situations where Naviair will not be able to maintain the optimum staffing at all times due to a heavy deployment of personnel in the last few months. At the same time there are still significant unsolved issues concerning the system functionality which keeps us in a situation where we continuously use more staff than originally expected. |
