The demands for the future air traffic management were highlighted, when CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation) held their annual global ATM Summit last week.

Representatives from the industry were invited to speak at the conference, this year in Bangkok. The main message from the speakers was unanimous that the ANSPs now seriously assert themselves with changes, which benefit the aviation industry. The ANSPs must manage the latest technical systems, meet the future operational concepts, ensure efficiency and necessary capacity as well as avoid situations entailing unnecessary losses for the customers. Morten Dambæk, CEO, Naviair, was one of the conference speakers. He suggested in his paper that ANSP management and employees need to share a common goal of delivering a service capable of satisfying the needs of its customers. - Society cannot accept loss of money and time because of non-business-like occurrences.
