In 2007 Naviair will replace and upgrade the entire air traffic management system in Kastrup and at the airports in Copenhagen, Roskilde and Billund. As part of this work Naviair has invested in completely new facilities and new hardware. An entirely new control center and a new control tower have been built in Kastrup for this purpose. Both of these contain the newest and most modern equipment on the market. The total modernization programme includes more than 50 projects of varying size, all of which are vital to the success of the entire system.

It is a huge, difficult task to replace nearly all of the hardware all at once, move into new facilities, develop new procedures and retrain both technical and operating personnel. When Naviair’s new air traffic management system goes into operation, it is the culmination of an ambitious and complex investment programme whose total budget is DKK 1228.4 million (2005 prices).
