Stable systems are a prerequisite for being able to provide safe and efficient air navigation services. Naviair is therefore focused on ensuring both operational safety and system stability for our many systems.
First, an advanced automatic monitoring system ensures operational safety. The system helps identify and instantaneously correct any system failure.
Second, the main DATMAS system is designed in a way that significantly reduces the risk of breakdown to ensure system stability.
| | By splitting up the many functionalities onto many different servers, each of which has a backup server, the system is designed to undergo so-called graceful degradation, whereby operation can be maintained in spite of decreased server functionality.
Third, all hardware systems are duplicated and backup systems have been established for the most important systems. This means that the total system is usually completely unaffected by failures in the individual subsystems.
One of these backup systems is DACOSY, Danish Contingency System, which ensures that air traffic can be handled safely in the event that the main DATMAS system fails in vital areas. In order to increase system reliability, DACOSY is designed according to principles that reduce the complexity of the system, and its functionality is limited so that it includes only the most basic functions compared to DATMAS.
